How to feel better — 3 ways to become more grateful

Do you consider yourself a grateful person? I am gonna share 3 ways to be more grateful so that you can feel better and happier by implementing them!

1. “What are you grateful for?”

The first way that you can be more grateful is what I’ve learned from Jay Shetty.

Before you go to bed, write on your note or post-it, “What are you grateful for” and put that next to your bed or close to your bed and see as the first thing in the morning.

You can put that on your mirror when you’re brushing your teeth and washing your face and think about what you’re grateful for. What can you be grateful for today?

It can be small 🙂 For example,

2. Gratitude journal with “because” and “feeling”

The second way is to write a gratitude journal. I feel like so many people are already doing it. But I want to invite you to not just write I’m grateful for that but add “because”.

For example, I’m grateful for the clean water that I can drink every day because that gives me energy and I don’t have to get sick.

By adding because you can find a reason that you can be grateful for that can allow you to feel more grateful and when you’re writing what you’re grateful for in your journal, really feel into it. Pause, take a moment and take a deep breath and really feel into your gratitude.

3. Express your gratitude to other people

Last way but not least, is to express your gratitude to other people.

If you’ve never done it, it might be difficult. You might feel awkward when you do it for the first time. But once you do it once you do more, you can get used to it.

This is a beautiful way to spread your gratitude. Your feeling of gratitude is very contagious. By expressing your gratitude to people, other people can feel loved and grateful as well. I remember while my friend and I were talking, he suddenly said, “Hey, I really appreciate that you always listen to me. Thank you”.

That made me feel so loved and so grateful for our friendship.

I remember when I expressed my gratitude to my friend because whenever we meet up she’s always on time. So I told her, “Hey, I really appreciate that you always come on time and I feel loved and I feel that you really care about my time. Thank you so much”.

I saw that she was appreciating that and I also felt so loved and I was more grateful for our friendship.

Find opportunities to express your gratitude. It doesn’t have to be when someone does something, you can just suddenly tell them, “Hey, by the way, the other day you did this to me and I was so grateful for that. Thank you”.

You can do that to your family, friends and even strangers.

I hope my tips were helpful.

What you appreciate appreciates, meaning what you place your value on and what you focus on, can expand or increase. Put yourself in the gratitude mode and express your gratitude so that it appreciates and increases. You can have a life with so much gratitude!

“To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all — but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing.”
